Each and
every year since 11 September 2001 Sun Enterprises has set
aside a day they call "Celebrate America." No doubt to
bring people into the dealership but also to remember that
terrible day by looking beyond it and to "Celebrate" our
America.
They close off the entire block on Pearl St., have a few
select vendor booths, custom bikes and cars, free food and
music. They also have their top sponsored riders showing off
their skills for the crowd. It usually turns out to be a good
time had by all.
They
will have a color guard and drill team presenting the colors
and usually they have a very strong presence from our Armed
Forces.
This year's focus for "Celebrating America" will be to
generate monetary support for the families of the 324th PsyOp
Unit at Fitzsimmons. They will have a Hummer and other
equipment on display. And currently they are working to obtain
the necessary clearance to bring in a Blackhawk helicopter.
How cool is that?
Some of the 324th PsyOp Unit are about to rotate back to Iraq
and their Family Readiness Group (FRG) will also be at Sun to
provide support for this unit. The FRG is a group of civilian
volunteers dedicated to providing economic, emotional and
social support for the troops as well as their families. They
will be selling wrist bands, tees, etc. to help raise money.
The most significant piece of fund raising will be an auction
from donations of all kinds, sports tickets, even parts and
accessories from Sun's inventory. It's my understanding that
all proceeds will go to the FRG for the support of the 324th
PsyOp Unit.
This year Sun Enterprises will have their "Celebrate
America" on September 9th. If you are able to attend, say
thanks to a soldier and please be generous in your support!

As most of you know, Sun has been a huge supporter and
contributor of our Colorado VTX Ride in July since
2004. They have only asked one thing of us and that is "What
do you want or need? Never once have they asked us what they
would receive in return for their support. Of course we all
know they want our business and many of us have found the best
deal in town in their showroom but never once have they asked
directly for anything. They have always gone the extra mile
for the Colorado VTX Riders. If you should have the
opportunity, please say thanks to Ron -"The Man", Mark Kite -
"Sales Manager", Lenny - "Parts Manager", Dave Burke - "Sales
Manager" and Dave Waggoner - "Nobody is sure what he does"
Typical of Sun and their support of our ride, once
again they have come through. They have asked us if we would
like to have a booth at their Celebrate America
festivities and we have graciously excepted their offer.
We have no wares to hawk other than our Event and the people
in our little group. We will probably hang a banner or two,
show our map book with a collection of our rides and routes
mapped out, after hour activities as well as a few pictures we
can put together. Maybe even have our CD playing on a laptop.
I was also thinking of displaying at least two maybe three of
our bikes, a clean little custom and maybe even a Retro ridden
for many miles. No "trailer queens" in this group.
I think it will be a great opportunity not only to support Sun
but to get our Ride / Event a bit of local attention. Who
knows, maybe we will meet a few VTX owners that aren't aware
of us.
It would be great to see you involved with our booth so we can
split up the time. It would be a shame to have one or two
people chained to the booth all day. Remember Saturday,
September 9th at Sun Honda.
If you have any ideas or interest in participating, contact Cliff at
vtx2up@aol.com and we will add you to our list.
